New quality of the book

With the support from “Foxtrot” for the seventh time succeeded charitable fund “Audiobooks for visually impaired people” On 30th August was presented audiobook “Leonid Kisеlev. Best poems” at the bookstore “Knigarnya “E” for visually impaired people.

This is 7th books from volunteer project “Audiobooks for visually impaired people”. Project was started in 2009 by students of KNU Taras Shevchenko with the purpose to publish noncommercial audiobooks with poems and prose in Ukrainian, for the scholarship from “Initiative of the year”. Over 2000 audiobooks was received by Central Library of N. Ostrovskogo, 79 regional libraries, and boarding school.

This a real girt for us, because when we received a request about this from students four years ago, we had no idea that government will stop budgeting audiobooks. Today our recording studio stopped making audiobooks, even though we have had planned 195 books to record. – said Yuriy Vishnjakov, head of the library for blind people N. Ostrovskogo.

Our library receives books either from sponsors or readers themselves. Books are very important at our library, because statistically our visitors read more than visitors of any other libraries. The idea of recording 7th audiobook belongs to famous Ukrainian journalist and anchorman Andrei Kulikov (radio journalist, host of the show “Freedom to speech”, ICTV).

Giving interview to magazine What’s on he said – I’m joining the project, because I do respect initiative of other people, and the fact that young people do – this is an example of honorable doing for others. About poems of Leonid Kisеlev – I can say that it’s beautiful and meaningful. This was a challenge for me to read poems so that others can understand what exactly poems are”.
